I have been inundated with forecasts of every kind as to the outlook for our national and global economy, our planet’s solar activity, our spiritual crisis of awakening, astrological indicators pointing to grand scale change and the call for contact with alien beings. If I hadn’t been in these circles for so long ‘overwhelm’ would be the appropriate word here. But as I allow it all to wash over me, my focus comes back to simple themes. What is it that I can personally control?
From the physical level, the forecasts of economic collapse, hyper-inflation and potential weather events effecting food supplies, I have chosen to focus on putting together a few months supply of food. The supporting advice for this course of action comes from everyone from Gerald Celente, Clif High and George Green to Catherine Austin Fitts. Catherine is the only one among them that seems to believe that the meltdown will be a slow burn rather than a catastrophic upheaval. They have all been making such suggestions for a while, but on an intuitive level it feels like it may be a good time to put a plan into action. Scott has seen to the flashlights, water filters, hatchets and all things manly, while I am taking care of our stomachs and health.
As I analyzed how I would like to experience life in the event of food shortages and chaos, I choose a life with a little spice. This means I’m putting together a slightly different kind of food supply than the military style rations you hear advertised on Coast-to-Coast. Survival isn’t enough for me. I want to live while I’m riding out any potential storm.
First is organic basmati brown rice. This is basic good thinking as brown rice is a staple that works for almost every human being as virtually no one is allergic to organic brown rice.
Next comes the dried beans, again basic. Then canned tomatoes, various canned vegetables, olive oil, spices, gluten free flours, raw sugar, condiments, canned chicken breast, canned tuna, rice pasta, canned fruits, almond butter, dried coconut, raw nuts, raw honey, raw cacao, evaporated milk, coffee and teas and a variety of other good tasting foods that make survival worth the effort.
The magazine Mother Jones made us an offer we couldn’t refuse on Chicken Coop books so we accidentally bought two. We think about five feathered girls should do and will begin building the their abode in a couple of weeks as we need to keep the chickens out of our garden and the dogs away from the chickens.
Once the bulky foods and water are secured, I am adding super foods. Dr. Mercolas Miracle Whey protein powder (made from raw milk) works for protein supplementation, though I may need to procure a small loan for this purchase. That’s assuming anybody would loan me money.
I use super greens, which are easy to store and light weight. Goji berries are a great anti-oxidant and source of vital nutrients. The list of obvious supplements such as a good B Vitamin mix to keep the nerves in tact and Vitamin C for the immune system is growing. I have also begun begun collecting key homeopathic remedies, particularly all the flu remedies.
Once our bodily needs are taken care of comes relationships. One CMN viewer recently wrote me about his financial dilemma with investments due to the declining dollar to which I replied, my opinion only, that the new currency is the quality of our relationships with one another. If they are broken, we had better fix them because we may need to rely on the good graces of our friends, neighbors and family at one time or another if the excrement hits the fan. Or they may be relying on us and we had better be feeling generous.
As for the ethereal part of our existence, meditation and strengthening the connection with our essential/eternal self seems appropriate. If we take it to it’s logical worst case scenario, we could end up with no need for our gourmet survival kit and flashlights because our bodies have ceased to exist for some reason. This could be disconcerting for anyone who has yet to consider the bigger questions such as “Who am I?” I don’t think it’s wise to be caught out on this one. We are more than our bodies and if any catastrophe hits we do not want to be drifting in some confused out-of-body state when we could make a smooth transition to our other dimensional state. This means some soul searching, quality meditation time and, perhaps, expanded esoteric understanding might be wise.
If we are confronted with ETs, I suggest we relax. Not much we can do about that one as they may be more in control of the situation than we are. If they’re friendly, they may be able to add some clarity to the “Who am I” question if you haven’t already worked through this one.
There’s my list. Food, friends and spiritual understanding. I think that should do it. Oh, and a solar powered radio and CD player because the music should keep on playing, no matter what.

Thanks for the great information. I too have recently thought it might be about time to “get it together” so we are not left in the dark without being prepared. It never hurts to have your supplies ready. I just bought a great book to help called When Technology Fails by Matthew Stein. He’ll get you prepared for everything. I also don’t think it is a negative thing to prepare. A lot of people think it is too negative to get supplies and have a bugout bag but I just think it is smart. Great to see you blog up and going and I look forward to your next blog.
please! … and at least one bottle of *really* good tequila
Thank you for this list. I have been feeling the same urge. I’ve even ordered one-acre’s worth of seeds – that actually produce seeds – unlike Monsanto’s. But I’ve been stumped when it came to food.
I can’t believe that I am going to be the first person to leave a comment on your blog! I better make it a good one. First off, I would like to truly thank you and your husband for the work you do on CMN. I am one of those unwashed masses who has greatly benefited from the incredible knowledge contained in all of your interviews, of which I have seen most. By the way, this is coming from someone who has studied alternative reality theories for a long, long time. In fact, when I first read David Icke in the 90s, it wasn’t news to me, but David managed to put together all of the pieces of the puzzle better than anyone else at the time.
As with all of us who are struggling to awaken, I spend most of my time feeling overwhelmed, like yourself. I also often feel alone, until I realize that the Universe has blessed me with an amazing wife and daughter, and that if I quiet my fear (ego) and my mind long enough, I can hear the quiet voice of spirit nudging me to my highest good.
I think that putting together a survival package for a few months is a good bet, but my working theory on what may happen next is that spirit is holding the great apocalypse in abeyance, and waiting for We The People to offer viable alternatives to the current power structure. In all honesty I think we spend too much time worrying about reversed magnetic poles, planet nibiru crashing into us, the Annunaki, the illuminati, the jesuits, the masons, George Green’s 300 mph winds and other nefarious characters too numerous to mention, and not enough time formulating a comprehensive alternative to the status quo.
I think those of us who sought the truth needed to go through a phase of staring our Boogeymen in the face, but now I feel as though we need to let these fears go and focus on solutions. The sustainability movement, in its highest form offers our best hope, as does so many of the people you have interviewed. Our health and our spirituality are so important, but we also need to consider how we peacefully evolve from our current resource extraction, processing, delivery, consumption and waste system to one that at least approaches sanity. That is the gist of book I am working on, as well as my blog. It would be tickled pink if you took a peek at some of the posts, and I will certainly check back to your blog and CMN.
I’ve probably rambled on enough, but I want to thank you again for your work, and let you that you really do make a difference.
Hi, Regina. I have also given a lot of thought about what “survival” means and came to the conclusion that it is meaningless if I am only thinking of myself and those in my “inner circle” ( as my husband calls it). I have actually meditated on this situation and saw myself eating, drinking and thriving while children starved all around me. This was reprehensible to me to even think about.
I thought about your list and had to chuckle. The list includes things that the ordinary person cannot even afford and this led me to believe that you are somewhat disconnected from reality. Most people struggle to put gasoline in their cars to go back and forth to work in much less purchase high grade and quality foods. Olive oil? Almond Butter? Gluten Free flours?
The reality is that I live in a town that is 75% indigent. There are few jobs and most of those are service ( as most are these days ).
People eat things that hardly pass as food here. Hot dogs, maccaroni and cheese from a box and McDonalds are the staples for most people. Where do you live? Obviously not anywhere near reality.
I question anyone who advocates storing away gold, silver, food and water. That is considered hoarding and I believe that there were a few admonitions against such practices from beings who came to Earth to impart wisdom and truth.
I have spent considerable time in meditation on this matter and have found that there is no possibility that I could thrive while others are suffering miserable….and if I do choose such a path that it will not be for my own good.
As for the reality of Star/Alien/Universal Beings? They are a part of us and in no way intend harm. I have had contact with them since I was a very small child and they are merely the “watchers”. They have shown me a time when there will be great suffering on this planet that will leave not one soul unaffected. It will be cataclysmic by the nature of the events. We are in the midst of it.
They have expressed that all things are in a perpetual state of evolution and so must be granted wide latitude to do so. They say that we like to point fingers and blame others for the very same behaviours we project into the Multiverse. They find it odd that we commit atrocities against each other, our planet and all it’s inhabitants and yet fear them.
There is great insanity on this planet and they are well aware of our fear of the unknown. This alone creates a world of darkness.
They are evolving as we are. How can we ask of them what we, as a soul and species, will not become ourselves?
They say that if we desire safety then we must become this.
It is not possible to store enough material resources for all of the planet so the best thing to do is to become that which will gift the world.
Perhaps, only in my eyes, it would be an unkind act to have more in such traumatic times.
We must all be careful in the dissemination of information. There are those who will be greatly influenced by our thoughts and actions.
Hello to Regina, Scott, and all who read these comments. Every once in a while I do think it appropriate to turn to history & biblical stories. In Egypt, when the bad 7 years was prophesied, the message made clear that first there would be 7 yrs of abundance so that the people could store up grain for the 7 yrs of bad harvest that would follow. That just makes good sense to me. If I don’t prepare, then I will have nothing to share. It’s just that simple. FEMA, Homeland Security (whoever they are) psychics, SunBear (bless that man), and others too numerous to mention have stated over and over for years that we must prepare for some really hard times. I won’t disregard the warnings so careingly given. We have been preparing since the 70s. Then I believe we were actually given a reprieve. Now, I do feel our time of reprieve is up, and we can either prepare or choose not to. For those of us who live in cold country, I hope nothing untoward happens in the dead of winter around here. Too many people who could prepare, do not, because they choose to believe that nothing will change, the food will never run out, gas will always be at the pump, and the power will always be on. Putting food by is an old fashioned way of saying “food storage program”. People have ‘put food by’ for millennia. It’s only in the most recent of times when we have grown accustomed to the always open grocery stores, shopping for staples every day. We all do it, only now I do it on tiptoe so to speak. I live in an apartment house filled with seniors, so I sometimes envision the possibility of “stone soup”. Everyone brings something and soon we have a large kettle full of soup. With most people, It’s rarely about ‘mine all mine’. But it would nice if everyone would think about having at least one cupboard full of food for a rainy day. As for the tequilla, great idea; have a few bottles for barter too.
Regina
We thank you for your wonderful work, we are making preparations and storing more than we need such as water and such with the intention of sharing it with others less prepared when the time comes.
You are a beautiful soul, and someday the whole world will know you.
S
It doesn’t hurt to prepare, but not preparing is a mistake.
I’ve been reading through this site, trying to learn everything. Good info on survival, shtf, and gear.
