Chills ran up and down my spine as I heard the opening words to the documentary A Good American this morning. The Sedona Film Festival is underway and I have bought about a dozen tickets, including 3 on the state of surveillance and mega data gathering.
A Good American is centered on Bill Binney, one of the greatest crypto analysts alive. Recruited by the NSA at a very young age during the Vietnam War, Bill’s career has been devoted to finding efficient ways to identify true, useful data about terrorist and enemy movement. His genius was rewarded with having his technology and team shut down just in time for 9/11. In a private post-9/11 analysis using his Thinthread data gathering program, it showed the whole story of Al Quaeda’s movements – everything. As one of the congressional analysts in the film said, 9/11 could absolutely have been prevented. And, what’s more, the public would have been safe from mass surveillance.
The extent of corruption throughout every department, which allows terrorist events to occur unobstructed while spying on average citizens, is soul shattering. Fortunately, at the end of the film there is a call to action by visiting agoodamerican.org. You can also view all the scheduled screenings.
In my recent interview with Robert Phoenix, he said that this is the year 9/11 truth will be exposed to the general public. I believe this film, which is not conspiracy, rather fact, could provide a cornerstone for this becoming a reality.
Meanwhile, I will be attending two more documentaries on mega-data gathering and will report back over the next few days.
